“With ‘Genderqueer Menopause,’ Lasara Allen has made a significant contribution to the conversation around menopause by specifically addressing the experiences of genderqueer and non-binary individuals. Menopause is often shrouded in secrecy and stigma in general, but for those who don’t fit into the traditional binary gender framework, it can be even more isolating. The lack of representation and understanding can make it incredibly difficult to access the information and support needed.

Allen’s work is crucial because it provides much-needed visibility and resources for this community, helping to deconstruct the gendered narratives around menopause. By focusing on how menopause intersects with gender identity and expression, Allen not only offers practical information but also helps to normalize the experiences of genderqueer people during this life transition.”

“Lasara Firefox Allen’s ‘Genderqueer Menopause’ offers an informative and innovative exploration of menopause experiences that are typically overlooked in our society. Weaving together interviews, research, and personal narratives, the book provides a thoughtful, holistic approach to aging that centers the intersections of lived experience.”
